My role entails lots of meetings and Teams messaging. The nature of what I do each day depends on what project or pieces of work I'm doing. Sometimes it's more technical, sometimes it's around running sessions to uplift skills across the business, or promoting governance around data tools.
I work in the Future Networks team, supporting work that helps prepare the electricity network for changing customer and energy needs. My day-to-day tasks can include analysing network data, supporting technical studies, attending team meetings, preparing reports and presentations, and working with different teams across the business on network-planning and improvement projects. As a graduate, I also spend time learning from experienced engineers, developing my technical knowledge and contributing to work related to renewable energy, rooftop solar, batteries, electric vehicles and maintaining a safe, reliable and resilient network for the future.
In my current role, I conduct structural assessments for equipment, substations, drainage and footings. I also conduct pole assessments for companies looking to trench near a pole to ensure the right type of bracing is applied. Lastly, I provide civil/structural advice to other teams within the company.
