In the early stages of employment, I undertook a number of learning modules as part of my induction to the business - things like health, safety, code of conduct, expectations, ring-fencing. I have had the opportunity to attend a Databricks training day and through my daily work I have developed skills in using SAPN systems, Excel, building effective PowerPoint slides. Throughout my employment so far I have had professional mentoring with my supervisor, including a PDR review process, and have so far have seen significant growth in confidence and soft skills. I have also been closely mentored by other Engineers in the office, and have developed a close relationship with them because of this.

Plenty of knowledge sharing sessions and exposure to other aspects of the businesses. Great mentoring from coworkers and management.

There are different training sessions where we develop our time management skills as well as communication, collaboration skills etc.

SA Power Networks offers a Cert IV in project managers for most of the graduate programs (engineering or otherwise). There are also training days throughout the year that work on soft skills which has useful information in terms of how the corporate world works. There is also a mentoring program where you as a graduate have the opportunity to have a mentor in the company. These mentors range from heads of departments, to senior managers to the executive level in some instances. The mentoring program is a great opportunity to get to know how other parts of the business work and get to meet people you otherwise normally wouldn't. When you are in your rotations, managers provide you with feedback on how you are performing in you current role and can also help provide you with opportunities outside your immediate team (for example, ride alongs in other teams who might be out doing field testing).
