I am somewhat satisfied. My initial role as an environmental science graduate was not what I expected. As previously mentioned I was introduced into a project coordination/management position where I had assumed (from the position description when I applied) that I would be using my environmental/scientific knowledge to assist in approval writing and site inspections. A look into my day conducting project coordination would be dedicating an hour to each team member, speaking with them about approval updates, comments from Transport or project managers and/or making sure everything was on track and reporting any delays to my manager. I am the sole keeper of our team work tracking excel spreadsheet where I manage and maintain updated dates and comments for every single project in each portfolio. I also lead portfolio meetings with all the projects managers across all portfolios within ConnectSydney's SRAP team. 3 months into the program this is what I am still currently undertaking. I have been on 1 site inspection and have written 1 Step 1 Memo. However, despite the difference in what I expected I have learnt a great deal of new skills that will provide me with a boost into my next steps.

My day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and processing payment claims, drafting work orders and contract documentation, managing commercial records, and supporting process improvement initiatives. Alongside my regular responsibilities, I've also had the opportunity to develop my own projects, allowing me to improve business processes while gaining a deeper understanding of the company, the construction industry, and commercial operations.
