I believe I wasn't really given or shown any training programs within my role but I have definitely picked up certain skills. My manager/mentor instructed me early on about my role as a environmental graduate proposing I start with project coordination for the entire environment team and move up from there. It was very different coaching to what I initially expected as I had no previous experience in project coordination or team management, coming straight from a science degree. Learning from scratch taught me a lot about team dynamics and the way environmental approvals flowed within the team. I got an understanding of each environmental portfolio however I don't believe project coordination was my strong suit.
I've gained valuable commercial and industry knowledge through hands-on experience and learning how the business operates, while regular performance reviews provide clear feedback, development opportunities, and guidance on how my current work contributes to my long-term career goals.
