DWER support Western Australia’s community, economy and environment by managing and regulating the state’s environment and water resources.
It's tricky in a graduate role when we don't know our final/ permanent roles as I'm not sure which direction my career is going to go and which opportunities to take advantage of. There was also some confusion / change from what we were told at the start of the year (e.g. you can't leave the grad program / acting in higher roles being discouraged. This changed half way through the year but I don't think it was communicated to everyone very well and different people were told different things.
It is quite structured progression throughout levels. I'm not sure if career progression will be as rapid as I would personally hope for. The work development plans/programs (WDP's) that we complete are used to identify growth opportunities however, I think the success of these falls on the individual because some managers are so busy that they would just look that they are submitted rather than making sure they are followed.
