There's pretty good training opportunities. A lot more for soft skills and cultural stuff. I'd like to see some more technical workshops e.g. GIS skills.
We are completing the 'LAUNCH Program' as part of our graduate program. It is a interesting training program featuring a range of development opportunities and good opportunities for networking with graduates from other government departments. Coaching/mentoring has been okay within my roatations but it has sometimes felt like in the four month rotations, managers haven't known how to integrate a graduate into their team and provide adequate development opportunities. Sometime's there hasn't been enough work and other times the tasks being completed are helpful to the team but little attention is paid to feedback and mentoring.
