Winslow is a leading construction company with diversified capabilities, managing civil engineering projects for government and private clients.
As an undergraduate engineer, I have been given good opportunities to learn through practical experience and working alongside more experienced team members. This has allowed me to develop my technical knowledge as well as improve my communication, problem-solving and time-management skills. I have received guidance and feedback throughout my role, which has helped me understand where I can improve and build confidence in my abilities. There are also opportunities to learn from experienced engineers and gain a better understanding of how projects operate in a professional environment. Overall, I think the training has provided a good foundation for my development as an engineer. There is still room for further structured training and development opportunities as I progress through my degree and take on more responsibility.
I have undertaken a graduate program that has allowed me to gain knowledge and skills that has allowed me to advance in my career. We would have informative training sessions every couple of months that went through the basics to advanced level of training that offered tutorials and insights on construction activities, cost management, relationship skills with stakeholders and more. I have developed skills in planning around my jobs at an above satisfactory level, managing costs better, values and maintaining relationship skills, foreseeing future events and problem solving.
The training provided has been practical and supportive, helping me develop both technical and workplace skills. Through on-the-job learning, feedback from supervisors, and guidance from experienced team members, I've improved my communication, problem-solving, and job-specific knowledge. Overall, the development opportunities have helped me grow and perform more confidently in my role.
There's a great graduate training program for the whole company which runs sessions you are welcome to attend, this is where you hear personal experiences from people very high up in the company, and get taught valuable lessons which help further down the track. Its nice to see that people who high up actually have time for us little people just beginning our careers
