There's plenty of programs that Winslow conducts to assist your learning, everyone is willing to help and teach you so you wont be short on help.
Every graduate employee undergoes 6-8 sessions which run through the key points of building a job. There are also other training/ mentor opportunities (women mentoring, mental health training, emerging leaders etc.) These become available as they become applicable to your development.
The graduate training program provided by Winslow allowed for the formalisation of information & skills gained through labouring on site and allowed for these training sessions to be applied to the field. I gained insight into ordering, KPIs, project planning & management as well as compliances.
The graduate training program is very thorough, and the senior management that partake in the program are very passionate about sharing their knowledge with the graduates. A lot of very valuable information is shared in these sessions, and it teaches graduates about the technical side of civil construction as well as managing relationships with clients and council authorities. The grad program is centered around developing and promoting graduates within the business and provides graduates with the opportunity to interact with senior management that they wouldn't otherwise speak to.
As a part of the Graduate Program, I am in the Graduate Training Program. Sessions are held with other graduates in my region to learn off more experienced and senior team members on a specific topic. For example, Construction Managers, HSE Coordinators, the Regional Manager and General Manager have all been a part of these training sessions. Similarly, I have been paired with different Project Managers to learn off them on their jobs. They provide constant feedback and coaching during the training and development process. I have also been placed into a mentoring program within the company, where I have been selected a mentor from another region. My mentor is a more experienced employee, who works and operates in a different team to mine. They have been able to provide guidance and support during my time at Winslow.
