Good training allowing complex issues to be explained at a simple level for all to understand no matter what educational background.

For the technical streams (engineering and construction), we have technical training every month focusing on a different topic (fundamentals of power, civil engineering, construction, asset management, project management etc), starting from towards the end of the first rotation until the end of the second rotation. We also have general graduate development days focusing on the soft skills like communication, leadership and influence, resilience, time management, problem solving etc. There is also a buddy and mentoring system where buddies are typically other graduates, and mentors are more senior employees. Managers also understand the roles of grads and provide helpful feedback and mentoring during day to day work.

Rcp has implemented its own internal university, which is pretty much the go-to hub for learning and development. It started out as rcp learning, but over time it’s grown into a full platform that supports professional growth for everyone, no matter their role. The idea is to have one place where you can find everything you need for training, mentoring, and career development. There’s a lot on offer - on-demand learning modules you can dive into anytime, weekly training sessions (like the friday 11:00–12:00 slot), and specialized programs for things like mentoring, performance reviews, and career pathways. It also includes skill frameworks that line up with the project lifecycle, covering essentials like project management, leadership, it tools like power bi and sharepoint, and even cultural competency through te ao māori workshops.
