White & Case is a global elite law firm with a top-tier Australian offering.

At a junior level, lawyers progress in a set timeline where each year they will be bumped up in either salary, position or both
There is a clear pathway to progressing through the ranks at White & Case, with promotions tied to your quality of work and billable targets. Promotions are not ad hoc, meaning how quickly you can progress does not depend on whether you are seated in a particular team whose Partner(s) has more sway. In terms of opportunities to fulfil my career aspirations, there are four key things that I have noticed: (1) there is a strong focus and investment in developing your skills, with lawyers of all seniority given opportunities (mostly by flying you overseas with lawyers from all the other offices) for practical learning and development courses; (2) White & Case helps facilitate your ambitions of working overseas which, unlike what I saw during clerkships at other firms, is seamless and encouraged; (3) White & Case will help facilitate secondment opportunities to clients which opens other doors; and (4) during our induction week, it was highlighted that the firm understands not everyone wants to be a Partner and they will help you in transitioning to a more commercial career (for example, employed by a client).
